1. Which type of denture or prosthetic restoration will suit me best?
Modern prosthodontics offers a wide range of solutions, chosen individually to suit each patient’s clinical situation. The choice of a specific restoration depends on factors such as the number and condition of remaining natural teeth, the condition of the bone tissue, and bite conditions.
There are two main categories of restoration:
- Removable restorations (removable dentures): e.g. acrylic dentures (used where teeth are completely or largely missing), skeletal/framework dentures (built on a metal or acetal framework, more stable and comfortable for the patient), and flexible dentures.
- Fixed restorations (permanently fitted in the mouth): e.g. crowns and bridges (anchored to the patient’s own teeth), or restorations supported by dental implants.
The dentist always proposes the optimal solution based on a detailed clinical examination, radiological analysis (X-ray, panoramic/OPG, CBCT scan), and after learning about the patient’s individual functional and aesthetic needs.
2. How much does comprehensive prosthetic treatment cost?
The final cost of prosthetic treatment is an individual matter and depends on the complexity of the case, the number of missing teeth, and the type of materials used.

3. What kind of warranty applies to prosthetic services?
Dentistry, as a field of medical science, is based on treatment procedures where, due to the biological variability of each organism, the concept of a consumer style “warranty” does not apply. Based on medical knowledge and diagnostics, the dentist can indicate an expected prognosis and an estimated period over which a bridge or denture is likely to remain stable.
The most important factors for the longevity of any prosthetic restoration are:
- Excellent oral hygiene: regular, correct cleaning of teeth and prosthetic restorations helps prevent inflammation and decay in the supporting (abutment) teeth.
- Check-up visits: attended regularly (at least every 6 months), these allow the dentist to continuously monitor the condition of the restoration and the bite.
- Professional hygiene treatment: regular removal of deposits and tartar at the practice.
4. Are prosthetic bridges removable?
No. Prosthetic bridges belong to the category of fixed restorations. This means they are permanently cemented by the dentist onto the patient’s abutment teeth (or implants). A bridge fully mimics the natural dentition, is stable, and the patient has no ability, or need, to remove it from the mouth themselves.
Because a bridge is permanently fixed in place, maintaining proper hygiene of the space underneath it, using special dental floss or a water flosser, becomes essential.
5. Do removable dentures need to be taken out for cleaning?
Yes, removable dentures must be taken out of the mouth for hygiene procedures. They should be cleaned after every meal and before bed (for health reasons it’s also recommended not to leave a denture in the mouth overnight).
Rules for proper denture hygiene:
- Use special denture brushes and dedicated denture-cleaning pastes or gels.
- Important: ordinary toothpaste contains abrasive substances (e.g. silica) that can scratch and permanently damage the acrylic structure. Bacteria and fungi build up much faster in the micro-scratches caused by regular toothpaste, which can lead to inflammation of the oral mucosa (so-called denture-related stomatitis).
